Agentic Trust Layer: Building the Foundation of Trust for the Age of AI Agents
~Software Supply Chain Governance through Verifiable Credentials and Agentic AI~
NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL, Inc. (NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL), together with Accenture and Amazon Web Services (AWS), has published the whitepaper titled:
“Agentic Trust Layer: Building the Foundation of Trust for the Age of AI Agents ~Software Supply Chain Governance through Verifiable Credentials and Agentic AI~”
In recent years, AI agents have increasingly taken autonomous roles in code generation, decision-making, and workflow execution, accelerating the adoption of AI-driven development. At the same time, enterprises are facing new challenges in establishing mechanisms to trace and verify “which AI acted, under whose instruction, and with what authority.”
This whitepaper outlines how the “Agentic Trust Layer” required for the age of AI agents can be realized by combining Universal Wallet Infrastructure (UWI), jointly developed by NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL and Accenture, with AWS’s AI infrastructure.
The paper also explains architectural patterns leveraging Software Bill of Materials (SBOM), AI-SBOMs, Verifiable Credentials, and Verifiable Identity for AI agents to enable provenance attestation for AI-generated code, continuous security assurance, and auditability of AI-driven actions. In addition, it introduces approaches for managing trust chains between agents, AI agent execution environments utilizing Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, and reference architectures designed for AI-driven development environments.
This whitepaper is intended primarily for software engineers, security engineers, architects, CISOs, and compliance professionals who are considering or promoting AI-driven development, and presents approaches to trust and governance required in the age of Agentic AI.
